Hi.
Does anyone knows whether it's possible to change the mode (T1/T2/AUTO) without mode select switch on the controller operator panel? I mean, for example, by signals from PLC.
Changing the mode without a mode select switch.

not that i know of? I suppose you could do some soldering and wiring and do it with some relays but i dont think RIA or any safety organization would approve of this. it would probably be like modifying the deadman switch or auto resting an ESTOP

I've seen it done where the switch was replaced by some dry contacts driven by the PLC that selected the mode. You would have to ring out the switch in its various states and wire it appropriately.

this can easily be done with a safety bus like ProfinetSafe for example.
Then you can control those safety signals like the mode switch via safe i/o.Those self wiring solutions are very dangerous and not legal in most countrys, and of course you will lose any warranty and RIA/CE

Hello,
“External Mode Select” option in the FANUC R30iB robot controller allows the robot cell integrator to use Safe I/O SSO(6) and SSO (7) to toggle the selector switch instead of using the actual switch itself.
so there is an official Option for that. i had 2 robots with that. was really an improvment.
old Mode selector gets replaced with a Jumper. -
What about changing back to using the mode selection switch which was installed in the control door. What other items must be changed to have a functional system. _ System Variable? Wiring?

My controller R-30iA does not have mode selector switch (T1/T2/Auto) how can i wire a switch to change modes? (it is in auto mode now)
