I have a KRC2 running KSS 5.4 (I think). Connected via profibus DP is a Schunk EGL-90-PB electric gripper. I'm able to move the gripper and execute commands. Controlling the position/speed etc of the gripper requires REALs to be sent out and the gripper is expecting IEE-754 floating point numbers. So I'm trying to send REALs out as a SIGNAL. Reading through the thread below I can see on later versions of KSS there are CAST_TO and CAST_FROM functions, though I'm advised they're not available on KSS 5 or the earlier version of CREAD/CWRITE. However, I'm lead to believe achieving the same is possible using SREAD and/or SWRITE. Is this the case? If so, has anyone had any experience of this?
