I was playing around with one of the robots we have here on the floor, it is V8.30P/31, and there is a new option under BACKUP in the File screen. It is called Com. Conf. I tried searching through the manuals and cant find anything about it, or what it is meant for. I played around with it in Roboguide and when I selected it 2 files were created. 1st was an .EDS file, and the 2nd was a .ICO file which was just an image of a Fanuc robot. Anybody have anymore info on this option? I am just curious what it is for.

EDS files are simple text files used by network configuration tools to help you identify products and easily commission them on a network.
You can use them for easily configuring a PLC.
