We have a Fanuc r-2000ia with a rj3ib controller. We are adding an Allen Bradley Compact Guardlogix Safety PLC and distributed Ethernet IP Guard Point IO blocks (1734-OB8s) to the cell. I have always just dealt with the safety circuits in series. What do people use for the estop and fence circuit in this scenario? I was thinking of using a MSR126T relay connected to the plc output and robot safety circuit.

Are there no relay output modules for this safety PLC?

On older Ford cells I've been on, they used the 1791ES-IB8XOBV4 CompactBlock Guard I/O EtherNet/IP Safety Modules. I am not sure if they were paired with safety relays though. Judging from the documentation, they probably were. I never looked at the setup very closely.
With the Guard Point Blocks, I think you would be able to use the 1734-OX2 module, and just wire the fence and stop circuits directly. I am not sure on this though either.

Thank you for the replies it looks like the 1791ES-IB8XOBV4 is a similar setup to the 1734-IB8s and 1734-OB8s that I am using. I will need a SIL3 compliant relay so I believe the 1734-OX2 would be out.

The safety function(s) are in the PLC safety task, you just have to pair up the robot's fence and e-stop inputs with PLC safety outputs and program the safety task. Pretty standard stuff.
