I am setting up a cell in Roboguide and would like to add a cable dressing to the robot. It is going on an M20iA which normally uses the internal cable routing via the hollow wrist, but I just found out we will be using an M20iA/35M which does not have the hollow wrist and I would like to simulate a dressing in Roboguide, but have never done it. I see the Cables option on the cell browser, but the only options I've found is to connect it to cell components, I don't see a way to connect it directly to the robot. If I am able to find a way to connect it to the robot is there a way to route it along the robot with bends and whatnot? The options you have available when using the cables tab look like there is a lot of cool things you can do with it like setting up the spring and damping rates, gravity effect, and the max stretch limit, I just don't know how to use it. Is there any other ways to setup a dressing in RG?

Just realized I was supposed to select dressout under the robot tab, not the cables tab. I know how to move either end of the dressing, but how do I put a bend into the dressing? Can I curve it, or does it basically stay straight?

In the case of adding a cable or conduit to the robot, you pick the start and end points on the tool and robot mechanical unit, adding the dressout as a "cable". Each point the cable would be attached to the tool or robot is a start/end point. In other words, you can make a cable from the tool to the base out of multiple cables. Use the physical parameters tab to choose how the cable reacts to the robot motion. The cable will then flex and bend like the real thing, following its attachment points as the robot moves. It takes some fooling around to get it right but it does work. Maybe there's a way to do it with one continuous cable- it's been a while since I've used any dressout in Roboguide.
