The last picture shows the Robot / Main / Memory boards. So that's an S4C controller.

As IRB6400 can be either M97 or M98, can you give us the references of these 3 boards (DSQC 3XX on the 3 boards). Avoid removing the boards otherwise you'll lose program.

That would allow us defining the RW version you'll be able to install.

To have an idea on the manipulator version (reach and payload), take a picture of the upper arm to define reach, 2 pictures of each sides of the wrist (to see if it's a std or 200kg), and give us the axis 4 motor reference and weight of counterweight written on it to confirm all that.

This is a S4C controller with IRB6400/2.4-150 manipulator.
Original version of RobotWare is 3.1.

Since it boots up and gives you an error. Go to the Service menu, press View and System Info. There it should tell you what manipulator it's set up for and software & options it's running. For software, RW3.0 is 3HAB2390-2, RW3.1 is 3HAB2396-2.

Looking at the pics, this robot is not a 2.4m. Measure the extension in the upper arm, if it's 400mm, then it's a 2.8/120 and if it's 600mm then it's a 3.0/75. Both use the 922lb (418Kg) counter weight.

Once you know what software is loaded, you can download a 3.0 or 3.1 system pack from ABB and then do an I-Start to reconfigure the robot type. Won't need to reload software or the key disk for that. You will need to know what DC-Link (rectifier) it has, should be a DSQC345C (3HAB8101-3) which is a 'DC2'.

Have you had the opportunity to pull the rear cover from the base? Sometimes there's information inside the cover... but probably only the robot SN - which you already have.

In the Service menu - can you press 'File' and then select 'Backup' or 'Restart'?

We can still figure out the version of software if it will backup the parameters.
Try to save the parameters to floppy using "4 Save All as...".
On a PC, open any of the six parameter files with a text editor such as NotePad.
Look at the end of the very first line and it will give you the software version, for example:
"EIO:cfg_1.0:3:0::" is BaseWare 3.0
"EIO:cfg_1.0:3:1::" is BaseWare 3.1
"EIO:cfg_1.0:4:0::" is BaseWare 4.0
