If you go to File and then Set Device you get a popup menu with a list of drives that all make sense except one, USB on TP (UT2:). I used to just accept that there was a need for the 2nd option. I assumed I would one day come across an older robot whose teach pendant would for some strange reason have 2 USB ports on it, but alas so far I have not. I even looked through the HandlingTool e-Doc and could find UD1 and UT1, but found no mention of UT2 anywhere. Does anyone have an explanation for its presence? :hmmm:

Some pendants do have 2 usb ports. However there are limited uses for the UT's for example no img back ups ...

I have had no problem doing image backups on UT1.

I have had intermittent problems loading backups from UT!, but no trouble taking backups there of any kind.

Just curious, do you know which robots had these pendants with the 2 ports? Was it a special purpose robot and/or controller?(By special purpose I mean something other than a traditional material handling robot)

Not really special purpose. It was R2000ib and R30ia controller. Not sure of the pendant right now. I know it was an I pendant though.

I guess more important than what robot had the 2 ports, what was the 2nd port for? What was the benefit of having 2? The only thing I can think of is being able to leave in your USB dongle for a wireless keyboard in one slot, and then having the freedom to do backups and whatnot in the other. That way you don't have to worry about pulling out your keyboard dongle and forgetting/losing it anytime you need to do a backup.

Hopefully im not wasting too much time on something that is really pretty trivial, but when I see something like this with no clear explanation it can drive me nuts with curiosity because I know someone put it there for some logical reason, I just wander what that reason was.

Used to be, there was only 1 USB port on the controller, and none on the TP.
