I am looking into using a Merkle HighPULSE welding unit, they are a German based company and we've used their standard (non-robotic) units for a while now with few issues.
After researching installation I have found the interface and control to this unit to be different to what we have used before. I'll attempt to explain but if clarification is needed feel free to ask questions.
The HighPULSE is a synergic welder, you are able to select the wire you will be using through the interface (we will be using EthernetIP, however this will be the same issue regardless of interface).
After selecting a wire the welding unit will suggest the Volts and WFS, you are then able to adjust the weld from the robot using 2 analogue signals. The two signals that the welder receives are ENERGY (0 - 100%) and TRIM (-30% - to +30%).
I haven't seen this method of control before however I have not had much exposure to robots outside of our factory. Is this a common method?
From the ArcTool manual I am only able to find setup options for general purpose welders for MIG (Volts + WFS) and MIG (Volts + Amps).
Is it possible to interface a general purpose synergic welder? If yes does anybody have any examples of how I can do this?
Thanks
