I was shown this in the teach pendant today and still do not understand it. Any suggestions.

Are you talking about the MODIFY TARGET AXIS option under EDIT when you are working in a multiple group job on an NX100, such as R1+S1?

When MODIFY TARGET AXIS is unasterisked (off) when you press MODIFY and ENTER the controller modifies the position for all hardware in the job. When MODIFY TARGET AXIS is asterisked (on) the controller pops up the MODIFY TARGET AXIS box. If you say YES the controller will only modify the position of the hardware showing in the Status Display area. The other piece of hardware in the job will be unmodified. If you answer NO the controller will modify all positions of the hardware in the job.

Then how will that affect one with a spot weld head.

That's exactly where I use it the most. I leave MODIFY TARGET AXIS on then open the gun to whatever I want. I jog the robot where I want the hit point to be. When I modify enter it only changes the robot's position. The gun will be whatever the original position was.
