What do you mean, separate safety circuit?
As an 8th axis to the robot, it is driven/monitored from the robot controller; the KSP/RDW are part of the FSoE structure; But you have SBC and STO.
You could use Safe Operation to monitor workspaces/velocities relating to the EA... but it depends what you mean?
i think he is a former KRC2 user where external axis could be fitted with Single Brake Module to hold axis while robot is doing something else.
On KRC4 this is accomplished through SafeOperation or its derivatives.
