PosDisplay does not know or care what the real KSS is. it simply displays whatever robot responds with. The problem you reported is that you came across KSS that is really an 8.6 that for some reason it identifies as 8.3.

If PosDisplay does not care why are yoiu showing it?

You are right the user knows what kss version he is using PosDisplay- why you show it then?

why not? i like to read and display couple of variables just to see that it is able to connect and interact with the KSS. and what is better to do just that than looking at kss and robot info? it was perfect to sort out issue in post #85.

the "it does not work" issue...

that could mean many things - application does not start, or starts but throws some messages or starts but does not communicate, or whatever....

so having "hello world" equivalent built into it, can narrow down what is going on. it is good thing for diagnostics... don't really care what the value is as long as it is in the ballpark (plausible) and more than one piece of info to rule out other problems. so displaying something that resembles robot model is fine, something that resembles KSS... not that much different from network commands like WHOIS or TRACERT for example. i don't really care if the reported value is KR150 or KR6... or KSS is some 8.x variant

as MOM reported there was an issue with regional settings. based on my tests it seem to work now.

there was another (minor) issue about detecting KSS version. previously this value was taken from robot MADA... there is also controller MADA... but... values in MADA are not necessarily matching the actual KSS. so this program version tries to read it from registry (both old and with WOW4632Node) and if that fails it tries to read it from log file.

but most importantly the displayed position values should be ok. so big thanks to MOM...

    Hi everyone !

Someone with WoV 2.0.1 ? I need to edit a project from one of our oldest robot, KRC 8.2.1.

I believe I have this one, but can send just later today.

Anyway, I believe for this KSS You are good to go with WoV 2.2.2. It is easier to find.

never saw 8.x KSS release that old...

the other option would be to upgrade KSS from 8.2.1 to something more recent like 8.2.28 or whatever the latest 8.2 version is. that should clear up many bugs and allow you to use newer WoV. I was working on 8.2 not long ago and was using WoV 6.0

I had the "honor" to work with earlier 8.1 controllers and thanks God they were promptly updated to 8.2 :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

8.1 had a feature where EACH version from the same WoV project downloaded inside the robot was saved on HDD.

So You need to pay close attention to the storage on C: drive.

Bad news: I will need to dig deeper in my stuff to find WoV 2.0 or 2.2 installers.

Good news: But i've found the WoV 2.1.6 installer, an intermediary version. Maybe it help.

    Download link below:

    WorkVisual_2.1.6_b177_winxp.zip
1 file sent via WeTransfer, the simplest way to send your files around the world
    we.tl

As the name of the zip already implies, this version will run just on Windows XP, so You will need an old computer or a virtual machine to make it work.

why are you trying? read pinned topic read first - it tells you how to find documentation and where. go to the source - Xpert portal. need to register using proper email from some organization like work or school. and in seconds you have access to more than you can handle.
