    Hi all
    :help:
I'm trying to connect a EtherCAT controller for a gripper with EtherCAT communication in the KRC4. I'm working to using WorkVisual 2.4. Anyone know how can I continue? I know that I have to use DTM catalog, but I don't know continue.

    thanks very much
    :merci:

W0V 2.4 will be fine if your controller is running KSS8.2, otherwise get WoV 3.x (current is 3.0.9).

I am not sure what you mean by "EtherCat controller" but I am assuming it is a bus coupler (with some I/O).

Either way, procedure is the same:
    1. Get the catalog data or electronic data sheets from the manufacturer (Beckhoff or whoever).
    2. open WoV (but do not open any projects)
    3. import datasheets (File> Import/Export> Import Device Description File....). Note you may have to change file filter settings (EDS, GSD, XML...).
    4. repeat previous step as many times as needed
    5. from menu Extras, pick DTM Catalog Management
    6. then click Search for installed DTMs and when done, click on ">>" button to add them all to right pane.

    Now modify your project:
    1. get project from KRC4 (menu File>Browse for project)
    2. save it (just in case, save original)
    3. save it as a new one (new version, this is the one you will modify)
    4. activate it
    5. under Hardware tab, Bus structure, add X44 interface (unless already there)
    6. add your I/Os
    7. Map I/O
    8. on a robot login as Safety Maintenance
    9. deploy modified project to controller and activate it...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

    hi panic mode
    :merci:

Yes, my controller has Ethercat communication. It's a gripper for the robot. I ask the catalog to the gripper manufacturer, and I'm waiting.

    Thanks very much.

Check what kind of modules you have (Beckhoff, Festo...) right down the numbers.
Than go to manufacturer website (Beckhoff, Festo...) and download ESI files.

You do not need gripper manufacturer for that.

Here is Beckhoff link with all ESI files for their modules.

After downloading the ESI from Beckhoff and importing the files with WoV... EL6751 appear at "Import Device Description File".
But at DTM catalog EL6751 does not appear.
    What could be the cause?

Does Kuka KRC4 support CAN Open Master Ethercat?

    Hi,

I think you need a GSDML file in your project for that particular part and then it will be shown in the device description. You will be allowed to put that part in the extension bus.

    Thanks

    Hey,
I have the same problem! I'm able to see CANopen Master when I "Import Device Description File" but even after successful import, I can't find the CAN modules in the DTM catalog (see attachments).
I can't find a GSDML file on the Beckhoff page and their support is not helpful. Thanks RS for the tip!

Has anyone successfully imported Beckhoffs CAN modules in Work Visual (4.0.11) ?

    Thanks

To the best of my knowledge, CANOPEN is not supported. You may have to use gateway

I have the same Problem. Added the EL6751 CANopen Master with "Import Device Description File", but it wont show up. Same thing with EL6001.
    Does anyone have a solution?

I'm fighting with the same problem here... I'm using a CPX-FB32 FESTO with KUKA KRC4, somebody can give me information?, RODRIGO! you should use Workvisual to set the parameters on the robot

read pinned topic READ FIRST. if i recall CPX-FB32 is an EthernetIP device, and not CANBUS.

in WorkVisual EtherentIP has unique way to import device description files (EDS).

    1. open WoV project, and activate it

    2. make sure EtherentIP bus is added

    3. right click on the bus and last option is called "Functions" i think. there you can choose import EDS.
