I'm having an exasperating time trying to find long-reach milling bits in the USA. The only place I've found is Frog Tools in Canada, but that nib-nob won't tell me what kind of spindle he's using ("Why won't Kuka help you with that?" :icon_rolleyes:) He also says his tools can't run any faster than 6,000 RPM or they'll break. Most spindles I've seen start at 8,000 RPM.

I know I've seen other people carving foam with Kukas on this forum...what are y'all using, and where can I get them?? Thanks! :icon_mrgreen:

The only cutter bits I found online was also from Frog tools.
My cutter bit was custom made, 20mm dia, L=160~180mm ballnose, not cheap.
You can also try Bornemann Germany: http://www.bornemann-mb.de/en/cutters/bw-hollow-cutter

 I am using this one for foam milling:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3104169894…984.m1423.l2649

needs a bit of grinding on the front - to remove the small bit, but after that is working perfectly

That's is kool, can you show us a picture of the finished surface milled by reamer bits?

Ok, have some photos - a bit old - from the first try, hope you can see the finish - it is really smooth. I did the whole project only with this cutter:

company making hollow rasps which are integrated into HSK shanks....very sweet, and much higher rpm capacity. But we actually use frog tools. Do not exceed that RPM limit! All of our spindles in the lab, including CNC, 4 HSK 63f spindles) run from 1k to 22k. Its true you won't get much torque at 6k, but you don't need a lot of torque to cut foam.
