VR files

  • Hi,
We are system integrators for Fanuc but we sometime get surprised by the fanuc response on certain issues.
So we want to read and get the information for the SV and VR files.
Can somebody tell me how to open theses files.
    Is there a software required

    Regards

    Jagroop

  • Hi Rupy,
You can convert these files with the program KConVars.exe.
You will find it in your C:\Program Files (x86)\FANUC\WinOLPC\bin when you have Fanuc RoboGuide or WinOlpc installed.

I tried this. If I double click on the .exe it just flashes a black box for a brief second. Am I missing a step or is my company virus thing killing it. I have had issues with that before.

  • Where are the files located?
In a robot you can access? Or in a robot backup in PC? In the latter case, do you have RoboGuide installed?

  • i have roboguide installed.

The KConVars.exe is in the path you mentioned earlier in C/ drive.

Do I need to open it within roboguide somehow?

I think I am missing a step but not sure where and as I have 40 other things going on I have no had the time needed to investigate.

  • Munimula, KCONVARS requires, at minimum, a file argument. You can also provide several other options:

Usage: KConvars [/p] infile [outfile][/config inifile]
    Valid file types:
    .sv - System variable file
    .vr - KAREL variable file
    .io - I/O configuration file
    /p - Pause after translating
    /config - Robot configuration file (default robot.ini)

To select version, use /ver version_id,
where version_id is an installed version.

You can do this by either dragging your VR file onto the program (this will presumably create a VA file in the same dir as KCONVARS), or you can use a command prompt.

  • To use kconvars to open .sv/vr file, you need to run cmd to open a black window and go to the directory where kconvars.exe is located and copy your .sv/vr files to the same directory. That black window brings you back to the good old DOS days. I open different type register files some times.

There is another way to see the contents of most contents in those files. Go to system variable screen and press Function then Print. You will get a .ls file on you memory card. Then you can open it with any text file reader. In most cases, this works. But if you are running low on DRAM, the controller will not create that .ls file for you. You can ask the end user to do it and send you the file.

If you have all the backup files, and you have RoboGuide, you can create a controller with those files. It is almost the same as the real controller.

  • The DOS thing I think I can manage.

Using the Print function on the select screen doesn't work on the r30ia for .vr or .pc files. It gives a "TPIF-047 Invalid program is selected"

Edited once, last by Munimula ().

I am not talking about Print in select screen. I am talking about print Variable screen. A lot of contents in .VR and .SV will be printed to the SYSVAR.LS which can be opened by text reader.

  • I have a back-up of a paint robot in my PC. I want to view the mastering values of that robot.
I tried to read the values using kconvars.exe application.

But still I was not able to view SYSMAST.SV file and get the mastering values from the back-up

    Can someone help me?
