I'm investigating if it is possible to interface a Schunk electric gripper (LEG 400) directly to a IRC5 to be controlled as a 7th axis.
Looking through a Schunk manual it shows a Fanuc and Bosch motor.
My questions are would a ABB servo motor be compatible with a Schunk LEG 400 gripper?
Or could a IRC5 interface with a non ABB servo motor as a 7th axis?
The other option is to use a bosch controller/motor combination, then connect the IRC5 controller to the bosch controller using DeviceNet.
My preferred option is to use the robot controller to drive the electric gripper.
If anyone has any experiences with this it would be helpful.
