Hello,
I work at an aluminum foundry, and we use several ABB and Kuka robots for unloading die cast machines, milling flash off of castings, stacking castings on pallets, etc. The next project is to attempt using a robot to bandsaw excess material off castings.
Do you guys have any experience using robots for sawing aluminum? Do you have any suggestions about how to improve our chances of success?
The robot is a Kuka KR150/L110. It would hold a casting that weighs about 25 KG, and the bandsaw (vertical blade) would be mounted to the floor.
