Hi All,
Im having a problem with an aux axis on a machine we built. The motor is a new aif12/4000 motor that is mated to an 80:1 gear reduction rv unit (this turns a large turntable). The motor keeps having an OVC fault. Whats really strange about this situation is the manner in which the OVC alarm occurs. Note im using MORGRP.OVCMNTR to watch the current draw on the motor. When turning the servo the current actually drops, but at rest is when the current increases. I would expect to see the current climb when first starting the motion and then settle once motion was established, but not when the servo is at rest! Anyways we took the machine apart to try and diagnose the problem and here is what we found. With the servo totally removed everything acts as normal. I have 0 OVC at rest and maybe .2 OVC when moving the motor. With the RV unit disconnected from the turntable and servo installed the problem returns. OVC climbs while the servo has no motion in the RV unit. I did not personally check the rv unit but I had a member of our build team tell me that he could turn the rv unit by hand so i dont feel that this is enough binding to cause a motor to pull current like that. Ive contacted Fanuc about it and they asked for MD backup and cpu debug. Sent that, but havent had any word back. I really need to try to get this machine back on its feet. Any help you guys could give me would be great!! Thanks

Did you already check the axis configuration in controlled start?

Yes i checked the motor parameters, ended up being that the rv unit was giving us issues.... motor was turning the rv unit, and the rv unit was putting a strain against the motor, thus resulting in the higher OVC alarm during run conditions. Thanks

I have the same problem right now, the robot was moving in manual and sudenly the robot stop and showed up this alarm SRVO-046 OVC alarm. What do you mean when you say check the axis configuration? Can you explain me How I can do that? Please

It would benefit you to start a new thread with details of your robot - arms, external axis', etc
