Enable Z Axis TorchMate

    Hello
    We have a 100IC with R-30ia controller

    We currently use Torchmate with moderate success, and am wondering if we can enable or activate Z-Axis option inside the Torchmate program to better control the torch position correction.
    Where do I find help in setting that up?
    I did notice I can enable it in Torchmate setup, but get an error if I try to run Torchmate with it enabled. "Not Mastered for Z-Axis Torchmate" or something to that effect.

    Any thoughts on that? Can it be effective?

    I did just that, and got it to run the TCP program.

    Problem is, the current torchmate program inches the wire out for .500 seconds at 80ipm before starting the X-Y touch sense, and retracts the wire for .750 seconds when it is finished.
    I can change these times and speeds in the TorchMate setup program, but haven't found a way to completely shut them off.

    This is not a problem when doing the X-Y axis calibration, but I can't see this being repeatable when doing the Z axis touch sense.
    The wire length is not always the same going into the Torchmate program, and the advance-retract thing it is doing throws the wire length completely off. Furthermore, the wire can be pushed in and out about an inch.
    The torch has a wire brake installed, but I watched the output that would turn it on and it never came on in the Torchmate sequence.

    Or maybe I am completely off track, and should be using the torch barrel for the Z axis sense object?
    In which case I would need to find the TP program (ASet_TCP? not sure... would have to check again tomorrow) and modify it, because it is not hitting the correct position right now, as the torch barrel (Gas nozzle) would hit a bolt that attaches the TCP Block.
    Or maybe that is part of the design?


    Edit: I tried using the barrel as the sense object and it didn't work because it is electrically isolated. So much for that.
    I guess I could try it with the nozzle removed so the contact tip is used , but it's highly unlikely that was the design intent, so...

    Have you considered using another automated system for calculating and calibrating the tcp?
    We use a system working with infrared technology. Very accurate, no issues and does a 5D calibration. Let me know if you want to find out more about it.
