I am experiencing two separate FlexPendant failures.  The first pendant fails when pulling in the enabling switch.  The event message reads, “#20224, Enabling Device Conflict”.

The second pendant fails immediately on boot.  The event message reads, “The joystick test of its zero zone at start-up indicates a problem.  The joystick has been disabled.  To re-enable the joystick the system must be restarted.  If the error remains, the FlexPendent must be replaced because of joystick problem.”  I restarted the controller, and unfortunately the problem persists.

Each unit is connected to an IRC5 Compact controller with an IRB120 robot.  The problems are isolated to the pendants.  I've tried swapping to known working controllers.  The failures follow the pendants.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your enable device is defective.  There is a 0v and 24v switch on these.  Or you may have a defective cable between pendant and plug.

Joysticks are a common failure.  You will need to replace it.
