EtherNet/IP EIO.cfg file
« on: June 20, 2018, 03:55:24 PM »
Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask for a bit of help  :toothy9:

I have a brand new ABB IRC5, it will communicate with PLC trough EtherNet/IP. I've never set a communication like this before, usually it was DeviceNet or ProfiNet.

Could someone post example of Ethernet/IP EIO.cfg file so I could figure stuff out  :merci:

Which version of RW?

Regardless of the answer to the above question you will need to load your PLC with the RW-appropriate EDS file as part of the commissioning process.

<Media version="6.07.0130" name="RobotWare" path="RobotWare_6.07.0130"/>

<Option descr="841-1 EtherNet/IP Scanner/Adapter"/>

Attached.

You'll need to Edit your SIO.cfg file as well.

I suggest referencing the EtherNet IP Scanner/Adapter Application Manual.

Well I did look into the manual, but the one I have is for RobotStudio version 5.5 (or something like that), so it was a bit confusing for me.

The EIO constructions are different between RW 5.X and 6.X., and not compatible as you no doubt have discovered.

Yes indeed I did  :uglyhammer2:, that's why I had some problems with configuring the communication. I did some integration on ABB, but not IBN (start-up).

It gave me hard time, but thanks to your files I did figure out what is going on.

I needed to add new IP Setting (with IP/Subnet/Name), that will "connect" with port X5 (LAN3) than I needed to link that as a Connection with my EtherNet/IP Adapter Network.

I think I got it, now I'm waiting for the PLC to connect to find out weather or not I'm right :)

Again many thanks  :merci: :beerchug:

Manual 3HAC047127-en

Document ID: 3HAC047127-001

" Application manual EtherNet/IP"

or you can use this one:

ownagebyh4x, can you send me or display your configuration files, for the life of me I can't get the connection to the PLC to work (same firmware 6.07.013). I've followed the manual verbatim and the PLC can read the module's info but the connection status remains faulted.

I am assuming that the default scanner definition can remain at the same time as an adapter.

Next time PM, so I can respond faster  :zwink:

Files are in the attachment (*.EDS files for CIP safety provided by ABB are NOT CORRECT for Allen Bradley PLC).

Take a look at this topic, I believe that's what you are looking for:

And luckly right now I'm working on ABB with EthernetIP Adapter, so I'm attaching files for this configuration as well, however it's for RobotWare_6.05.0129

Thanks ownagebyh4x, i have the link about the CIP safety EDS problem but unfortunately the person who ordered the robot did not include that option with the Safemove and Ethernet/ip options.  So I've got to hardwire the safety to the Safemove controller from my Guardlogix.  I'm just trying to get the regular I/O to work and I'm sure the reference stuff you provided will point out what I'm doing wrong.
thanks again! -Jeff
