I need to communicate on RS-232 between Motoman NX100 and PLC in order to write to robot job# and some other variables, and to receive data readback, error codes, etc.
Where can I find the protocol basic description?
Yes, I know it may be a proprietary protocol. Still somebody may have the information.
No, please do not refer me to Motoman. This is useless from my experience.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Use MotoComm SDK and you can communicate serially with the controller.  You can write whatever you want in a C++ or Visual Basic 6.0 program to send info to the controller and see the controller's status.
