Has anyone ever hear of the CF cards inside a NXC100 controllers going bad or corrupting data? I’m asking because 1 of the 6 controllers I help maintain is having communication issues with the computer running the material handler service. (Motoman teach pendent works fine) I went ahead and replaced the whole controller which fixed the issue but I would like to try and repair my spare. I was also looking into replacing just the CPU board but can't find anywhere to buy one.
Thanks,

Hi,

yes we had such a problem in the past in NX so it could be the same in an NXC controller. We replaced the CF card and it worked fine.

Watch replacing the CF.  This just isn't a CF that you would buy anywhere.  It is but it has to be partioned for the VX Works.

The CF card was a Toshiba 64mb. Can I use any 64mb CF card I.E. Sandisk? Also, with a card reader can I transfer controller data to the new card and then reprogram the Standards, Pos, and Parameters? Or is there a better way of setting up the new CF card?

as  95devils said the CF has a special partition ...What I have done is get a CF the same mb size and IMAGE(using a third party disk imaging software) it from a good source (a just alike system)
Install it....Initialize the system and then load the CMOS.bin file from the correct machine.
It is not hard....But must be done correctly or it will be ALL FOR NOT
Without the bin file......you will need Motoman if the system has any paid options anyway
best to buy the CF from Motoman and go from there.....Because really, its just not worth the trouble....

Thank you for all the good information! I just sent an email to motoman on there website. If I'm unable to buy one from them I will try to image one of our other CF cards from a like system. Can you name drop a good 3rd party imaging software. If not I will try one of the two we have.
