I have worked with Kuka units in the past at work, but now I have my very own Puma 560C.
First successful Pick and Place at home =--> http://www.youtube.com/v/29JoJRHsn2g&rel=0
I have some limited technical data on the unit but I am missing a few key bits of information.
If anyone knows where I can find this stuff it would really help.

1 - "Unimate Industrial Robot Programming Manual: Users'Guide to VAL II"
2- FDD Equipment Manual, P/N W769.006.00 (1 A49509001)

I am building a floppy drive emulator for the 5 /14 dive I have now.
it is getting old and I expect it will fail soon. I think it may have already gone south
because the last time I used it it ran very slow and required several tries to load

Specifically I am trying to decode what appears to be a version of Kermit used to transfer the
data from the Floppy to the PDP-11 in the Mark controller over a serial port.
I have captured the entire conversation between the two units and have analyzed it
but There are a few bytes that I can't pin down. The Check-Sum method and location within
the block is one of the major issues.

If you have any questions about PUMA 560C models or the Mark controller unit please ask
I will do my best to tell you about what I have.

Thanks

Hey Mike,

I have a soft copy of the Val I user manual, hopefully I have a hardcopy of the VAL II manual arriving soon.

I have recently bought a 700 series puma arm and am wondering if you can give me some clues. It boots up and gets through to initialize so I type in Y it says are you sure "y" there is a clunk - but the contactor for the servo power stays off. I push 'arm power on' but nothing happens no flashy lights come on or anything

Have you got any idea?

I'm looking at upgrading it with some PCI servo driver boards from www.mesanet.com any thoughts?

Thanks

chek list-
1) Pendant must be hung up, (or at least have the button on the back pressed in)
2) All Estops must be cleared. There are 3 on my machine.
on the pendant, On the front of the controller and on the top of an external box.
they are usually red buttons. If they are pressed IN then they are engauged. Twist them and they should pop out.

On my controller there are 3 key switches.
the power is easy, 0 or 1.. 1 means on. I am guessing that one is set correctly.
There is one that has two choices. COntroller or 'squinting sideways cyclops smily face"?
Set that one to point to the CONTROLLER unless you have a remote box that you want to use.
I'd start with the controller setting first and disconnect the remote box until we can be certain it is not the problem.
THe other switch has three settings. A fist, A 12:00noon symbol and a set of parallel lines with a triangle to the right.
I have mine set to FIST. I think that means 'manual'
THe RUN/Teach mode should start in the RUN Mode.

ALso, What does your pendant say after you tru to INIT?

Hi folks.

I am looking for ANY documentation for the Unimation / Staubli Puma series to start a 'electronic library' for these since it is really hard to find info / schematics for them.

Thanks everybody!

Thanks for the scan. Since there is literally nothing on the net about the good old unimates, please scan / convert everything you have in paper to pdf. If someone has disk images or Eprom dumps, archive it before it is too late.

If everything goes well, I will put scans online in the next few days.

Regards!
