I'll say the Staubli TX, but then I work for Staubli.  icon_wink

Depends on what you are trying to do.  Pick & place?  Path application?  Loose tolerance or high tolerance application?

Staubli makes a high performance, mechanically stiff arm...unlike most companies.  It's the Formula 1 car of robots versus the typical bulldozer that describe most other robots.  If you need speed, precision, path accuracy, small footprint, extreme programmability of motion commands (and required skill of the programmer), and otherwise higher performance...guess who.

The downside is:  what happens to a Formula 1 car and a bulldozer when they crash into the wall?  But they are MUCH MUCH more robust NOW than they used to be a few years ago.

Hi willer22

Are you going to replace your RX robot or are you speaking of a completely new application ?

One advantage to use a viper is that you have a continuity in the robot programming (V+ language) . This may be interesting depending the level of training of your technicians/engineers . Furthermore, Adept may propose you to replace this RX by a brand new viper for a good price. You may spare some maintenance costs (that may be quite high for such an old machine).

Opposite to that, if you are going to replace your RX or build a similar application (but new) Stäubli may propose you a good help to adapt/translate the existing V+ app into VAL3.

You may also consider service. Here in europe , I must say Stäubli provides a much better service than Adept. However, I don't know what is the situation if you are in USA.

If performance is THE key-point of your new application then Stäubli should be your choice

best regards

Iv'e done Adept Viper, and Staubli RX. I'd even choose a used Staubli before a Viper, and I don't work for Staubli.
I also agree with Klausi, the service here in North America seems to the same as in Europe.
