My experiences with Panasonic robots dates back to 2000-2003. We had about 20 Panasonic welding cells, can't remember the robot models. We were constantly replacing servo motors, the brakes would wear out in about a year. Power the robot down and it would slowly settle down into a heap. We also went through harmonic drives.
My experiences with the fanucs has been that they are quite robust. I have had 1 wiring harness fail on a 6 year old robot.
I am not familiar with the newer Panasonics, don't know if they have improved or not.

From personal experience I say: take a robot for the right application.
Handling: A handling robot (Fanuc)
Welding: A Welding robot!  dance2
TA or TB Panasonic welding robots are real and have the standard features you need.

Torch i would like to advise the pneumatic torch shutdown and new VWP-R torch from Valk Welding.

Please look at the movies on: www.valkwelding.nl
I know also that they haved one projects on Turkey

Hi we have a Panasonic TA1900  robotic welding arm installed by Valke welding. We are currently welding a 1.2mm box profile on a manipulator. excellent results  from efficiency and speed as well as weld quality. We also weld 4,5 & 6mm products with the latest product being a 10 mm assembly. I would suggest that you use a tawers power supply as it reduces  weld spatter quite a lot therefore eliminating a second operation.
Pneumatic torch shutdown is a must as it a second crash detection system and also protect the torch from bending. We find the Panasonic very good from the point of downtime as well.
