Hey, I'm not sure if this is a weird question for here or not, but I recently need a giant robot arm that can lift loads that average around 100lbs. (They're reams of carpet, so the arm will simply be a pole).
I want the arm to:
- Pick up carpeting from ground level,
- Raise dangerously high above our heads,
- Trolly it a few feet over some cargo netting,
- and finally, set the payload down on the cargo netting.
Unfortunately, though I've always been a die hard technology geek, I've always been too frugal to buy actual hardware, so I've only experience with a tiny bit of soldering, and tons and tons of programming experience. Can anyone tell me if this project is feasible? It looks like buying a heavy duty trolley will cost about $1,000 right off the bat, and that's simple enough, but how can I give the arm the ability to move left and right (it needs to line up with the wholes in the carpet). Do they sell this stuff ready made? It would be cool to weld and program the machine/robot together myself, but any suggestions on where to start and what to do would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
