Hi,

I was looking at the EPSON robotic website for E2H853S model (SCARA type) where EPSON claims that it can achieve approx 0.5 sec cycle time for a 1"x12"X1" move. This seems very fast. I checked this against an equivalent Motoman robot and the cycle time is 1.5sec based on simulation.

Has anyone actualy used and epson scara type robot and can verify this?

Regards,

I've used quite a few Epson robots throughout the years and can say they are very fast.  The E2H series is the older model.  The new G-series robots are faster than the E2.  They are also very reliable.  I've ran them almost continuously (24x7x350) for years at a time with no problems.

The cycle time spec are mainly to compare base speeds of the arm against other arms.  I wouldn't count on any real world application going that fast.  I've used the Seikos TT series, E2, and now the G series and have never been able to run faster than around 80-90% speed with part.  Part holding really becomes an issue above that.
