Hi all,
I just bought a pair of Nachi SA160F-01 robots that I would like to use in my CNC shop. We make several types of valves and in the other building, track systems of all kinds.  I want to use the robots for two main tasks. Deburring valve bodies and second cut out parts with a plasma cutter.

Now for the stupid-cuz-I-don't-know-no-better questions.  How do you go about getting said robot to do what you want (program it)?  Nachi has not answered any of my email so a phone call is next.  Their web site says something about SLIM programming language, never heard of it. I do G code and C programming.  I would like to use my CAD/CAM software for the plasma end of things but have no clue how to get that big ole hunk of metal and servos to debur my parts.

Granted it would take you folks quite a while to ed-u-makate me but if you could point me in the correct direction that would be a great help.

You've got a long road in front of you.  Your fastest andd most effective route involves spending the time and money to go to a Nachi programming class.  If you didn't get a set of robot/controller/programming manuals with your robots, you need to invest in a set.

What CAD/CAM software are you using? Unfortunately Nachi is somewhat of a less popular brand and so some third party programming options are limited

Tyler,
I normally use MasterCam and I 'could' write a post processor for it to convert G code to Nachi but I don't wanna! That would be a real pain in the butt and seems like somebody prob. has done this already.  It looks to me that I would need to program the Nachi in it's native lang. for my debur and buff jobs but for the plasma and light routing I should be able to convert G code or the cad drawing itself into Nachi instructions.

usually software that converts anything to robot instructions is EXPENSIVE.  Geez, even software that converts robot instructions to other robot instructions is crazy.

i've been a g-coder for 11 years and have been programming different robots(not nachi though) for about 7 years.

i've dreamed of ways to turn DXFs into robot paths in an inexpensive way but came up with nothing.  concept seems easy, but no one has come up with anything yet.  as i'm typing this i'm thinking back to an idea i had to parse g-code to make robot paths, but i got stuck on arcs.  robots handle circular motions very differently than machines.

DP: The controllers are the AR series

Jseger: mayby I can help with that once I figure out how to program the Nachi I should be able to write a conversion.

I finally got a call back from Nachi and they want $300 for a basic set of manuals on CD, anybody got a set of those laying around? I would rather spend my money on pizza and beer!  beerchug

I guess there is another manual on Nachi's "Robot Language" .... need that too!

Sorry for being such a pest but has anyone come across the "Robot Language" manual for the AR controller? I found one at Robot-worxs for $200 in written format but I can buy several toner carts for my laser printer for that and print the .pdf!   oh what a cheep skat!  hahaha

I am also looking for the programing manual for the AR controller with a ROP500 pendent. I called Nachi and they told me $300.00 for the manuals. They would not sell me just the programing manual. I have the robot functional but need to learn how to program it.

Hello all, new here.

I too just picked up a used Nachi SA160F for assembly work. It came with an AR controller and an ROP500 pendant. Naturally, I was not provided any manuals. Any help in finding these online would be greatly appreciated.

No doubt I'll have many more questions in the near future, but a bit of reading is probably in order before I make a complete fool of myself.

Thanks in advance
