Hi there.
I am wondering if any of you could recognise what kind of KUKA is the one I'm showing on the attached images.
It´s a KUKA (that´s the easy part) I guess that might be a 125 or similar... The id plate is ilegible.
It has no controller.
My doubt is that if it is worth (if the arm is fine) to try to get a 2nd hand controller.
If so, what kind would be suitable... if anybody could recognise the model shown.
The robot actually has a handling claw an the claw controller on top of 3rd axis that will be removed.

 Thanks a lot.
 Jens

PD: sorry for the quality of the pics... old mobile

Hi,

This is an old IR760/120. You will need a KR C32 controller (RC30/51).

Good luck with your search! I guess it won't be easy to find a controller like this...

Yep...

agree with mechrob.

However, I wouldn't worry so much about the controller. I recon, finding the software for this machine would be the most difficult part.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the replies.

Next to the robot there are a couple of RC 30/52 cabinets. They might belong to other smaller Kukas.

I am wondering whether it would be possible to connect the RC30/52 to the IR760/120
I guess that won't be possible... the servo drivers are probably not capable of driving the IR760/120 servo motors.

If  the assembling of the IR760/120 with RC30/52 was possible... The software would be still a problem?

Thanks.

Jens

Hello,

hmmm...they might fit.
Can you pass me the S/Ns of the controllers and the arms?
I will answer both your questions (fit and software).

Best regards

Thanks RAS,

I will, but I´ve to wait until week of 5th April... the workshop where they're stored is closed until then.

Regards.

OK, no prob,

but why are they closed? Are they Christian Orthodoxes? Orthodoxes have Eastern this week, so this could be a reason why...

Hi Ras,

Is just that in Spain there is a massive bank holiday during Easter, from tomorrow to Sunday... so people take a holiday until then.

Hello jens,

here's the feedback....

The controller RC30/52, with the details that you posted and as I can see it in the pics you attached, can only be used with an IR 363/6 or an IR364/10/15. In fact, I can see one in the background of one of your photos. If you search in this lot, you may be able to locate those arms.
Regarding the other arm types that you mentioned, yes, you need a different type controller. You may also find them somewhere in there. If you give me their S/Ns and Part No.s, I can tell you which match which.
If you worry about parts and/or support, don't.
Regarding the quality of these machines, I can tell you that although sometimes they get stubborn, they are honest workers. I have 11 of them RC30/51s installed, all working like a charm.

Best regards

Hi there,

Thanks a lot for the answer.

I'll have a look to the other machines then. I´ll let you know... I do not now how long will it take.. depends on the people working there.

So, for the old IR720 I understand that could be worth getting a RC 30/51 cabinet.

Just a more question... and I guess that the answer is : NO.
In case that finding a RC 30/51 was difficult would it be possible to use a more recent controller to drive it?

Thanks a lot again

Hello jens

connecting an old robot to a newer controller, is not impossible. I do things like that all the time. This is not a definite YES though. :-) There are limitations.

However, lets not get carried away yet. Lets make the first step...
If you can give me all the S/Ns and all the Part No.s from the arms and the controllers you can find in this lot, I will be able to tell you if there are any pairs in there.

Best regards

Hi there,

Finally I have had access to the other lot. There are 2 smaller Kukas. They look alike but the ID plate of one of them is completely erased... maybe because somebody tried to clean the dirt comming from a foundry... quite sticky.

Well, lets go to the point:
The ID plate from the other one reads:

Type: IR 364/15.0
SN 73516
Year 1995
Drawing Nº 391.810
Weight 270

I guess that This twin kukas belong to the twin RC 30/52 cabinets.

Thanks a lot.
