Gents

Is it possible to interface with the Kuka Bof software at all?
For example I am trying to control a variable $out[1]=true from an external application.
Or even how to read the i/o status (controll) with an external program.

Thanks

You can do it via simple I/O Interface.

Controlling BOF via external application for $OUT[1]=TRUE is unclear.

Depends on the external application, and how you want to go about it.  If you want to write a .NET application plugin to run under the Windows side of the controller, it can be done, but takes either specialized knowledge that KUKA doesn't give out or a lot of work starting with the Sample folder in the HMI/PLUGINS directory.  Search the older forum postings for "Crosscom" and/or "Plugin" and you'll find some hints.

Or, if suitable, you could install the KUKA OPC-Server tech package and/or the SoftPLC add-on, which (with proper setup) could allow you read/write access to global KRL variables from outside the BOF, or at least an I/O interface.
