Hello guys,

When we need to install a new card to do another type of communication
such as DeviceNet slave we have to buy it from kuka.

There are other manufacturers that offer these extras? That can be purchased and installed on the robot as like the cards from kuka

Only certain cards and drivers are certified to work with the robot.  If you bought some other I/O card, you won't have a software driver to make it work with the robot.  You might be able to install another card that might work from the Windows side of the system, but again, it wouldn't work from the robot's I/O table.  Additionally, using an uncertified card runs a very real risk of creating hardware or software conflicts.

KUKA Robotics is the only source I've ever dealt with for these parts.  As far as I know, the Profibus CP5614 card is a standard Siemens product -- you might be able to buy one off the shelf and plug it into the robot.  But there's no guarantee it'll work, and if it doesn't work, you've wasted your money.

Really, it boils down to how much money you're willing to risk throwing away trying non-KUKA parts in the KUKA PC motherboard.
