Hi all,

I'm new here and a dummy working on Kawasaki Robot.
I have just got a Kawasaki FS10N with C Controller, secondly from my college.
I receive it with unwork condition and the former user said that it used to work before, but it's been long time not to be used. So he predicts that the  problem probably on the battery, software missing or CPU is broken.

I'm really newbie on it, so could you please guide me how to troubleshoot it until at least it moves?

thanks a lot

Turn it on and let us know what errors come up on the screen. If there aren't any and you can't get it to work, take a photo and post it here. There's always someone here who can help you out, but be prepared to wait a little while.

Hi James, thanks for the respond :)

Because I'm new in this stuff, so I have to be prepared to do so (touching the robot and start it).
Currently I'm preparing my self by reading some manual that came up with this robot. In my hand, I have Safety Manual, Robot Installation and Connection, Controller Installation and Connection, Maintenance, and troubleshoot.
is this all complete documentations from the manufacture?

Please guide me which manual I should read to start this robot (to know what further error).
does the preparation I do is necessary? or can I just start the robot without such praparation?

http://www.robot-forum.com/robotforum/kawasaki_robots/d_controller_operations_manual-t3316.0.html

There are some manuals posted in this thread, the ones you need will be the D Controller Operations manual and the AS Language reference manual.

Pay particular attention to the safety instructions as these things can become lethal pieces of machinery when they start moving.

hi all,

I want to start the robot but the controller won't start. My 1st prediction is, the basic AS program injected to the controller is missing as it's not used for long time without maintaining the battery.

I wonder how to inject the basic AS program to the controller and/or multi purpose panel with any way?
thanks guys.

I think you can initialise the system to restore it to a factory default state.

if you have a copy of KCWin32 and a null modem cable, you can connect the the controller using that and initialise using the "SYSINIT" command.

I've only had to initialise a system once though.

the robot I got, did not come up with the KCWin32 so I get the software from this forum. Someone gave me, it's named "KCWin32_007.exe". On confirming the installation path, it show dialog box to where the software will be intstalled, but shows with an odd charracter, something like machine font, so I just click the button by my feeling, and fortunately the installation is succeeded :D

but...once I start the KCWin32 without connecting PC to the controller, I can't do anything on the terminal, neither typing instruction nor selecting menu bar. Is KCWin32 I got is corrupt or it is normal?

next week I'm gonna try to connect the PC with the controller, I hope my KCWin32 works properly :(

Even though you are offline from the robot, the menu's: File, Com, View and Help should be availably.

When you are offline you cant type anything in the window. But the “marker” should be flashing and the menu’s be availably.

When you connect KcWIN32 should make the sign  “>”    Then you are ready  icon_wink

Connect NULL modem serial cable to controller and PC
Turn on controller
Turn on PC
open KCWIN
If a connection can be made...it will...The title bar on the top of the window will show the COM port
If you do not see the ">" symbol ....press enter wait....press enter again
if you still do not see ">"......Check the COM port setting
If you are using a USB port adapter.....I have had issue and had to re install the adapter driver
If you got the message CONNECTION FAILED ......Check the COM port setting
If you are using a USB port adapter.....I have had issue and had to re install the adapter driver
GOOD LUCK

hi tonygast and selquist,
thanks for your guide, yesterday I started the robot and controller, as I haven't already got the NULL modem serial cable, so I couldn't connect PC to controller.
Once I started the controller, appear message on the teach pendant something like this: "AS software missing". Then I had nothing to do. Can you guys help me with this?
Another question, what is "NULL modem serial cable"? :p
is it an ordinary serial cable (DB9)?

thanks before guys!

It's a serial cable that has a female connector at both ends.
