In the past we have used some D-controllers. For the last project we got some E-controllers.
To do some remote service and troubleshoting we build a VPN gateway into the network (eWon). With the D-controllers everything worked without a problem. Now we are using E-controllers it doesn't seem to work. Other controllers on the network (Adept, Siemens, WinCC flexible) we can acces without any problem with the VPN.

Does anyone have some networking experiance with the E-controller?

We have tried both network connection. Checked and reentered the TCP/IP settings. But no succes.
The network settings are:
.NETCONF     192.168.144.71,"13843-E7",255.255.255.0,192.168.144.250,0.0.0.0,0.0.0.0," "
.NETCONF2     169.254.251.72,255.255.0.0,0.0.0.0
The cable is connected to port 1, and the robot can be accessed from the local network on 192.168.144.  But when tried by VPN no answer.

Maby if you update the AS-software to the latest version, it will help?

Since the E-controller is so new, new as-versions has just kept on comming... lots of error correction

What's the current version available?
We did recieve a update file, but were not able to load it into the controller. Didn't do it myself, but there were some issue's. Is this something that I can do myself, or does it need a Kawasaki expert?

Friday we've had a go at the Kawasaki robot to try some solution for the communication problem.
After an update to the latest firmware version we were not able to get the gateway to work on port 1. Strangely when we tried communication on port 2 id did work. (don't ask why we tried)
For test reasons downgraded the robot to the old firmware and tested the gateway connection on port 2. This also worked. As you can imagine, we we baffled.  Huh?
Don't know for sure any more if we've ever tried to get the gateway working on port 2 in the first place, but at least we've got a working solution for the moment.

[UPDATE!!!]
Just upgraded the robots to the latest firmware version.

*=== SERVO GROUP ===      : SVE_08000000W 2010/06/11 15:10

Now I can enter 1 gateway adres. A popup box will appear when entering gateway data for the other port. It's tested and now I have gateway communication on the port I've entered the gateway data.
Now some new options are availeble. Haven't checked them out yet. I'm only glad the upgrade went without any major problem.

Good to know that it solved your problem
But just as an information, your SW-version is very old (17 versions old actually), newest is SVE_08000001K... and your AS-version is also one version old. newest is: ASE_010000V1Z

But of course if you have no problem, there are no need to change software. Also KHI stoppen making official release notes in nov-2010 so you dont know what is "new/fixed"...
