I posted and issue with loading files in another topic and did not want to clutter up the topic so now I am posting another question that is related to the file loading issue.

When loading a program I am sometimes asked:

>Setting ZLNEAR Again. Confirm! (Press Enter)

What is the ZLINEAR command and what is it used for? I searched out all my AS Language  and operation and programming manuals but I can not find this command listed. (C controller)

Sometimes when we need to raise the tip a few millimeters to get more clearance from an object we use a TCP command to actually modify the tool setting which allows us to raise or lower all the points in a program without having to stop production and re-teach individual points. Could the ZLINEAR be related to the tool length being changed?

I am sorry I meant to say that when we need to raise or lower points we use the Point tool shift command not tcp command.

I don't think ZLINEAR is not a command.....rather a system variable......What it is I don't know, but it is found in the as file and I would think that there is a discrepancy in the file and the controller at load.

Are you loading from a card, KCWIN32, or KCWINTCPIP? There is an old version of TCPIP that comes on a disk in the D controllers that does not work well with Windows XP. Click on Help, and see which version you have. -01 is problematical. -05 works fine. You can download the -05 version from the KRI website.
You will also see this if you did a full file load and did not cycle power. If you try to load again, you will get all kinds of errors.
