Hi everybody,

I have a Kawasaki JS-2 with AD controller. It has AS version number JAM45+0012 (this number shown on the screen when the system start).
I can't initialise it because of the language (Japanese) and lack of the manuals. Is there any way to change the language to English?

If you had the optional keyboard, and got past the first screen, there is a command zlang on or off depending on if A. The software version supports it. (If it is a stickly japanese version), B you had the keyboard and was able to get to the keyboard prompt screen. (F6 I believe). If you knew the menus well enough (look to another AD or C controller) and was able to fumble through the menus, there is an AUX function (again if your software version supports it) to change to a second language. With many older kawasaki robots, the first language is japanese. If the the robot is a european spec., second language could be french, german, etc. And not support english at all. The version of software you have could A. Be one of the noted above. B. Corrupt EPROM, or CPU.

Hi Roboperson,

First of all thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I haven't the keyboard. Is it possible to change the language without keyboard? Or is it possible to use a personal computer keyboard (possibilly with a simple interface circuit) instead of the AD-controller keyboards?

There use to be an interface program called kcmon. This modified into the current kcwin. I don't think you can use kcwin on the older controllers, and I'm not sure what the logical difference between the two are? Kcwin communicates with the C and D controllers through RS232, but I think you need a "Crossover" version of RS232 and not a straight cable. I would assume kcmon communicates the same way, but I can not state for sure? The optional keyboard was the primary communication since there was already a prompt built in. Have you checked ebay or other sites to purchase a keyboard or other misc. Parts?
