Ok, so I posted some questions about some trouble I have been having loading a file from a c-controller memory card that is in the teach pendant, I did not get the answer I was looking for so I e-mailed kawasaki and one of their tech support team members sent me an e-mail that they would like to look at the file I am having trouble with, so now after I hook up to the C-Controller using KCWIN (I have done this before) what command can I use to move a file from the flash card to the computers hard drive so that I can E-mail this file to the technician? I don't want to just do a save but actually transfer the saved files from the flash card to the PC. Any takers? Just thought I would ask you guys, If no answer I will e-mail the technician on how to do this.

Thanks

Tried that, get error that the file is corrupted or can not be read, I can not drag and drop, copy and paste or even open in microsoft word or note book? any other suggestions. If I save the program from a lap top using KCwin32 I can open the file or do what ever I want with it. But I can not move the ones from the flash card to the PC? I am assuming this is because the flash card used in the robot is a different format then the one saved with the PC?

Thanks

It sounds like your file has gotten corrupted somehow. Do the other files on the CF card transfer to your PC when you drag-and-drop them? If so, try to open them in notepad. If that works, it at least means the CF card itself isn't completely bad.

I'd suggest getting a new CF card, and also implementing a regular copy from your CF card onto your PC just in case.

Some cards have a protect switch. It is supposed to keep you from overwriting data, but maybe???

just do a backup on your laptop.  Connect your laptop to the robot with the serial cable, then run KCWIN.  Press enter a few times untill the " > " shows up, then type "save backup1".  It will save exerything as backup.as.

this works with D controller:

to save just one specific program, try save/p/sel file_name=program_name. this should save a .pg file containing only a program you specified (+ a bit of some extra header data) in KCWin directory. to load the program back to the controller memory, use load program_name.pg.

Just an update, I ordered my new flash card (which had to come from japan due to our company's set up) which just arrived after like 4 months of waiting, So I ordered an 8MB card, the package the card came in says it was 128MB card, when I opened the box I ended up with a 1GB memory card. What an upgrade right? I hope my C-controller will handle a 1Gig card. I will give an update when I get time to try the card out, untill then I have been doing all my saves on the lap-top computer.

A C controller will only accept a max of 32mg. Your 1GB will be too much. There is also a list of which flash cards will work. One I know for sure is Sandisk.
Best of luck.

Hear is a very good and cheap place to get memory cards

http://www.robot-forum.com/robotforum/general_discussion/do_you_need_flash_memory-t3241.0.html

I use them when I have a problem.....cheap enough I buy my own cards.....(I keep them).....and does give me piece of mind

You can get old small sizes from them

UPDATE>>> Time to close this question out!!!

So today I got to work with a Kawasaki rep and I asked him about this issue, he suspected it was due to a bad flash card so he placed my flash card in his computer and also could not read from it or drag and drop files to his computer from the compact flash card, he took out his flash card and saved a program from my controller and he was able to open it on his computer. Next he tried to format the flash card from the C-controller and it would not allow him to do so as I had also tried, then he placed the card in his computer and formated it from there (this I did not try) and now I can load programs from the controller with this card and also I can open files from the flash card. So I guess the flash card got corrupted and all it needed was a format from the computer to make it work again, thanks for all the great responses and suggestions from you guys..

Thanks
