For those of you that are keeping around old PCs running specialized DOS programs, you may be interested in this free product.  Its called DOSBox.  Its available under the GNU public license.  The product emulates an x86 PC, both hardware and MS-DOS.  It can be downloaded from here:

http://www.dosbox.com/

I have used it to run old FANUC OLPC products that won't run under Windows XP.  It even emulates the communications hardware, so RS-232 communications programs work.  The guys that developed it are aging gamers that want to run their old games on new machines.  They did a very good job with this.  Try your old programs on this and you may not have to keep old junk around.
