I have a potential application for a robot to spray water-based adhesive.  The safety data sheet says that it is "not explosive".

Does anyone know whether I can therefore use a standard robot, or will it have to be an ATEX-rated one?  Should I use an ATEX-rated one anyway?

If the material is non-flammable, and the vapors generated by spraying are non-explosive, (I'm almost certain that) it is not necessary.  Not sure about Euro/ISO requirements, but here in the US I would verify it through the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.  NFPA 30 & NFPA 33 if I remember correctly.
