If you are trying to copy or backup/restore files you can use KFloppy, which is part of the WinOLPC software package.  You would need a laptop with a serial connection and a serial 9 pin to a 25 pin null modem cable.  The software you have to buy from Fanuc and the cable you can get at a computer store.  I think you can get just KFloppy from Fanuc without WinOLPC and I think it is around $300.

Probably you need only Ethernet card inside your controller, RJ45 plug with wire and Ethernet port inside your computer. If you have this equipment you need to configure port settings inside your controller and computer.

Sometimes you need to change some variables inside controller which are responsible for communication with outdoor equipment:
1.menus -> system -> variables -> :
$MCR_GPR.$Machine_loc   - False
$FRM_CHKTYP             - 2
$YBOX. .$Machine_loc        - TRUE
I tested it two years ago but with R-J3C controllers. It should work with WinOLPC.

If you  speak/understand Polish, I could send you an instruction about configuration ethernet connection between fanuc robots and WinOLPC/ROBOGUIDE software step by step - write me on PM.

I don't understand exactly what you mean about prepare "WinOLPC/ROBOGUIDE software" because you need only put right number of your IP addresses in your controller and computer - the same when you for example configure connection between two computers or the same group of IP address when your equipment is inside your local web.

If you made this connection, you only switch winolpc or roboguide and you can transfer data between robot and computer.

Don't you have manual for R-J3 controllers with information how to configure Ethernet card?

as a matter of fact I have cleared CMOS and from and need help (detailed instructions) connecting/loading RJ controller with TPP+(KAREL Run time) V3.06PB software floppy disks. Now i think that i should have to reload software completely and I have been hacking away at this with no manuals for days and getting nowhere. How do you setup the controller and PC to see each other? Please help.
