I need some opinions on whether we should go with Motoman or Fanuc (sold through Lincoln Electric).  The two robots seem very similiar in their physical capabilites and pricing, so the questions are:
Which MFR has the best Customer Service?
Which Robot is the most user friendly for programming (to a novice)?

We are going to be cutting 3D sheet metal components (cones and tubes) using a Hypertherm Plasma Cutting head and a 7th axis headstock.
Is there anything we should watch out for?

Thank you for all the information furnished!

Hello over there. About plasmacutting ckeck out www.pasirobot.fi and choose on right hand side "esimerkkejä töistä" and scroll down that page a little bit and you see a couple of pics about Plasmacutting. Is it something like that what you are aiming at ?

I have seen couple of Fanuc robots with Hypertherm plasma cutter. You may want to look at the Shape Generation software option to reduce your programming time if the cuttings are combination of some standard shapes.
The programming of Fanuc robots is quit easy. Lincoln can offer you a robot with plasma cutter and positioner, so you will not be confused which options you need to buy with your robot or plasma cutter to integrate them. Lincoln hasmany local representative in Canada and the US.
If you need very accurate cutting, a Hi-Def plasma cutter with THC (Torch Height Control) would be a good.
Hope that helps.
