Hello all fanuc users,

Is possible to read out the encoder puls of 1 axe ( axe 5 )
It is a Fanuc S430i with a RJ-3 controller.

The reason why we need these pulses is to now where the axe is in realtime.

I know it is impossible with a motoman because you have multiply communication ( encoder, alarm, temperature etc etc )

I hope somebody can help me or tell me more of the possibility's.

Thank you very much.

Greetings

DO you want the positional data or the encoder pulses?

You can see both, but the encoder pulses wouldn't do much good to know?

Almost, we want to have the electrical puls from the encoder. Getting +5V 0V and a pulse signal that you can measure with a oscilloscope.

You may be able to do that, there are seperate cables from the encoders of each axis to the CPU, but you would need the cable electrical diagrams and pin out to determine the correct wires for the signals.

Everything is simple... once you know how..!!

I am not sure if you can do what you want to do. (getting the voltage from the encoders)

But it may possible for you to capture the current pulse values of a particular axis in a register.
Ofcourse this value will be referred to through a system variable.

What exactly do you want to do in any case?

We want to make a picture when axe 5 gives a pulse(movement) on the fly.
At the moment i am getting some help from fanuc, keep you all updated.
