My co-worker just did a fresh install using an R30iA controller with handling tool, and an M410 long arm.
He says he cannot get the digital outputs to show up in the plc if he simulates them. They work normally.
I told him he doesn't need to simulate, he should just be able to turn them on and off. He says that didn't work either.
Has anybody else run into this? Seems weird to me, and I have never seen this before.

I'm fairly certain that when simulating IO, signals don't actually leave the controller.  Can the robot get DI signals from PLC?

Yes, the Di's do work.

Here is the way the DO's work.

If you do not simulate the output and just turn it on and/or off, they work.
If you simulate the output, it stays in it's last state before the simulate was turned on.

This is the normal way it is suppose to work. I just read that in a Fanuc manual.

So it appears all is normal and he was simulating the output instead of just turning on and off.

And YES, they do appear in the plc if just turned on and off.

Well. I think so. I haven't heard back from the guy after I told him not to simulate the outputs, just turn them on and off.

Thanks for the help.
