I often read people's conversation regarding Karel Programming on this forum. I have been doing TP Programming for last one year but never used Karel. I want to know, how can i learn this? I mean, what  tutorials, softwares do i need to learn the Karel Programming.  If someone can share good tutorial for Karel, it would be of great help.

Thanks in advance!

There should be a KAREL reference manual that comes on the same CD as the HandlingTool documentation. Unless you're a FANUC employee or work with somebody who knows KAREL, that is pretty much your only resource for learning the language. As far as I know, they no longer teach classes for it, and they won't give out the training documentation either. If you can find somebody who knows it, have them show you a few things. The manual is fairly complicated and hard to learn from in my opinion. There are also a lot of things that aren't documented in the manual either.

You will also need something to compile the code with. A recent copy of roboguide will compile KAREL for version 5.3 and up.

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure it out if you don't have to. Unless you need to communicate through a serial port or mess with files, there isn't much that you can do with it that you can't do in TPP. I've only had to resort to it once, and even in that scenario there was a better alternative that wouldn't have required me to use it. If it wasn't for a stubborn customer insisting that we use the much more complicated, harder to set up and less accurate 3rd party vision system instead of V-500, I wouldn't have had to touch it.

If you understand how and/or logic works then you can pretty much figure out karel on your own.  I took a class several years ago at fanuc and most of the class seemed to have never even touched a teach pendant.  The karel manual i got while at the class was worth more than taking the class.
