Has anyone used the GE Quick Panel for a HMI on a R-30iA robot controller?

I'm going to jump in here with some more info from other forum post. Roboguy is wanting to attach this quick panel directly to the fanuc controller by ethernet. Basically like a UOP type control but with no PLC in between. Never done this so I am worthless at this point. He also wanting to run some PMC programming to control cell clamp devices at separate operator stations. Again I can be of no assistance as this is not my preferred method of programming.Sorry for butting in but I am sure someone will be help here.

Thank you MTech.  I am hoping someone has done this in the past and can give me some things to look out for.  I am more familiar with ABB robots.  This is my first Fanuc so this is all new to me.

I had this info salted away, and it took awhile to remember where I had put it, sorry.

I'm not sure about the specific QuickPanel model, however I can tell you that any HMI that support SNPX (serial) and/or SRTP (Ethernet) can communicate with the R-J3.

To get the Fanuc to talk SNPX and/or SRTP requires a PAC to activate the SNPX option. Fanuc says absolutely nothing about SRTP anywhere, but it seems to work fine. We verified this fairly recently with a late model QuickPanel.

Oddly, we've been asking Fanuc for about 5 years for HMI support, and they NEVER MENTIONED this.

We stumbled on it; it seems that the magic word is SNPX, rather than QuickPanel, GE Fanuc, or HMI.
