I could probably do with 2d drawings, but is a simulation software the way to go?  If so, where do you get it, how much does it cost?

Does anyone have 2d drawings on an R2000?

Thanks!

Fit where? - floor space or height constraint, or reach requirements?

Simulation software is the way to go if the task is complex or you are uncertain of the reach (but the software costs a lot of money - so not worth buying yourself for one robot, but there are specialist companies with the software that will do the simulation for a fee)

if it is a simple pick and place operation that is easily within reach then you might get away with drawings of the robot footprint placed onto your workcell layout, as long as you dont mind possibly moving the robot / fixtures a few times after they have been bolted down, if the robot cant reach.

Are you the final customer?, if not they might have standards dictating which simulation software you have to use.

R2000 Huh?? which one (there are 19 different models in the R2000 robcad library)

2D drawings should be available from the fanuc website (if they are anything like any other robot builder), if not ring up your local fanuc rep and say you are thinking of using their robot and can you have the drawings for it to see if it will do the job you want it to do. if they say no to a reasonable requerst like that what sort of support are you going to get??, consider a different maker...

Simulation is a great option.  You can purchase the software or contract a company to do it for you.  You can also get a 3d model from Fanuc by doing a "request information" on their web sit.  Fanuc (as of today) will send robot models in 3d or 2d if they are available.   You can import the 3d model into AutoCAD or SolidWorks and do a "some what" of a reach check.  However be cautioned, some times it can reach but cannot travel to the location.
