Hello friends,

I have Comau Smart M Type robots, and one of them has a strange failure. It is about the gripper unit. When I give an input by pressing a button on the teach pendant in order to activate the gripper valves (it is same when the program wants to turn these valves ON), the gripper unit's valves don't work. They work like that; when I push the Hold-to-Run button on the teach pendant the motors get the drive power ON and at the same time both the gripper's valves get ON strangely. When I release that button the valves get OFF at the same time altogether (two of them). I couldn't find out why that is happening.

I have exchanged the I/O card of the C3G Unit (Controller) with another ones, it didn't help, and I have checked the cables of the valves up to the connector plug and they seemed ok as well.

Do you think it is related to the RPT Unit of the robot? Or if you have another ideas can you please share with me? I am stuck to this robot and waiting for your advices.

Thanks & Regards,
Hasan

I Think you'r Problem might be that the output from the robot is wired through the Auxilary drives on contact in the robot please check your wiring!
You could try taking the output straight from the IOM card not through the X30 plug!

Maybe is too late, But the IOM have also a separate supply for infiring the valve.
check it also. Can be possible that the 24 Volts power supply are connected with the Drive ON.

Usually this is done for safety reason.
Bye
