Hi, I work with two Abb IRB 6000 robots. We purchased them used about four yrs. ago.One has performed flawlessly, the other periodicly has high current faults. They start randomly and are reset by powering down.Eventually it faults at every start-up.The same axis (3) faults every time.We replaced the corresponding board ,wiring to the servo .Works great for a few months then faults reoccur.Checking to see if anyone has delt with this before.  Thanks  Joe

Hi Joe
I have seen this many times.
to isolate the problem we swap around  the drive boards.
I am assuming your 6000 is M93.
if so the drive boards for axis 1,2 and 3 are the same and interchangeable.
boards 4,5 and 6 are the same and also interchangeable.
If you exchange the boards for axis 1 and 3 then see if the fault follows the board
to axis 1.
The solution is to replace the drive board if the fault is found to be here.
these are readily available on the used market.
if you need any more help pls feel free to contact me.
regards

Thanks for the quick response. We tried that the first two times and the problem would go away and not follow the board.Month or two down the road high current fault same axis(3).Faults were occasional but eventually robot would move 2 or 3 positions then fault.About 3 months ago techs checked servo and replaced main cable in base.Problem went away.Last week had a fault monday and friday, within a week or two probably fault all the time. Will be interesting what they try next.     Thanks Joe
