Hi
I am a carpenter.
Wood carving wood is there a robot work?
I'm done doing this by hand and very hard and takes too much time under the photo.

http://imeu.net/engine2/uploads/1/olive-wood-carving_2.jpg

Robot I saw a lot of sites but do not know which model is used for me?
It is possible? (Woodcutting)

I must pay the cost of a robot for a while and learning.
I know that the robot must be connected to a spindle
Spindle weight is about 30 kg.

Which robot company and which model do you recommend?

Thanks.  blumen

ahmadtd:

Welcome to the robot-forum

Many robot companies can handle a 30 kg spindle, that is not the problem.

Do you understand what is involve ? You are going to require a powerful computer, a 3D software to develop your model, etc, etc.

People in this forum will help you but you have to give us some information. Have you ever programmed  a robot before ? Do you know how to work with Autocad for example ?

Hello, Thanks to your response.

With the robot did not work at all.
With 3 axis machines have a little work.
AutoCAD I know a little and I can fully learn.

is It difficult to work with robots 6 axis?
if i design with AutoCad and some software same artcam,cadcam,....
can i put my design in the controler robot and play ?
the most important thing is that as easy as i can learn it very soon beacuse im not engineer & not Programmer.

Yes, I recommend you to look on the Simulation forum. You will find many posts regarding the software to do 3D design

If you only have the choice between the two, I would get the S4C. They are both old controllers, but the S4C is newer and you will be able to get tech support and parts easier. The latest addition "IRC5" is supposed to be really good.

It's hard for me to compare the two because I have never worked with Kuka. I have been working with ABB's for many years and I am pleased. It will be a learning curve on either robot to learn their method of programing and interface. I would recommend a integrater work with you on the first install until you get comfortable.

They sound like they are used robots, neither are late models. What matters more than brand is how badly the arm is worn.
If can you get to see the robots and can power them up, you can tell by pulling on the arm when the brakes are open.
A worn robot arm will flex if you pull on it.
It is likely at matter of you get what you pay for so don't shop by price alone.

Jim is correct about the arm quality.

As far as the controllers go, having used them both, my personal vote would be for the KRC1 over the S4C.  But I doubt it will make a very large difference to your application -- both controllers are highly configurable and and support advanced high-level programming languages.

However, by buying an older used robot of any brand, you're asking for extra problems with wear, spare parts availability, and tech support.  The KRC1 and S4C are both too far behind the curve to support the latest software advances from their respective manufacturers.
