Have you looked at Webware SDK or Webware server

http://www05.abb.com/global/scot/scot352.nsf/veritydisplay/cce679f6d3d652d8c125766d003a4469/$file/ww_sdk_4.9_manual.pdf

I have no experience of this but it could be somewhere to start.

Unfortunatley I have never used any OPC functionality on the controllers but I would suggest looking at the WebwareSDK (Webware Server is for more than one robot) and any questions you have then your local ABB should have a software specialist to advise you.

I have used serial communication to connect C# software. I had created a software for count cycle of some robots. I know this is not the best way to get communicate but that was worked for me.
