After getting in a muddle, somebody decided the "program" on our ABB S4 robot need "resetting" and wiped the whole lot. Next they decided the answer was a "Cold boot". This on a robot with a poorly floppy drive. I have replaced the disk drive with a good one. I have come in to pick up the pieces but one of the files on "BaseWare OS 2.1" disk 1 of 3 is unreadable.
Using some disks that I was sent I have been able to make a good set but am not sure if I have enough disks!

I have 3 base disks, 2 language disks and a IRB disk - to select the model. The robot loads them but will not let me load the system parameters!

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

The system parameters disk is just for backup. If you want to load this from disk go to the parameters menu and select load, but you should load the backup of your running program so the IO and calibration are correct. If you have memory board DSQC 323 (8 meg) or DSQC 324 (16 meg) you should look into getting version 3.0 this has a lot of fixes and you can use the S4C style teach pendant that has the 5 hot keys.

Thankyou for your reply. In case this happens to anyone else - I will explain further.

I had correctly loaded the baseware program - now V7 instead of V2 but the system disk with the system files and program on had an error so the drive would not read the floppy. It required outside help from an ABB trained engineer to recover the parameters from a laptop copy.

Now we have full backups saved on the network!! (But I have locked the disks away)

A WARNING: If you know how to cold boot an your robot, make sure nobody else knows!
